Disease outline

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that selectively impairs upper and lower motor neurons that dominate voluntary muscles.

Consciousness is firm, but patients can not move bodies gradually. It is also known as a disease that Dr. Stephen Hawking suffered.

Although cognitive function was considered normal, it has been reported that cognitive dysfunction occurs during the progress in about half of cases.
